Class Descriptions

NURSERY BEES

Infants and Toddlers

Our youngest children are blessed to have time to spend with each other, learning how to share and be gentle with each other. This class will play, nap, eat snacks and have fun together!

BLUEBERRY BEES

Jr Kindergarten - Kindergarten

These precious children are given a quiet growing time through gentle nature lessons, Picture-book centered readings, and plenty of play and hands-on activities as they explore the world around them. Our teacher will use Before Five-In-A-Row as a guide to planning the lessons.

HONEY BEES

1st - 2nd Grade

The 1st and 2nd grade students will benefit from the intentional alternating of left and right brain lessons, as Charlotte Mason advocated, including: Art & Handicrafts, Science, Literature readings of allegory and Fairy Tales, Physical Education, Geography through a Picture Book Story, Bible, and Nature Drawings. This alternation provides stimulation for the brain followed by rest, as it switches to another skill area. A proficient reading or writing level is not required, as the teacher will read the books aloud, and much of the narration and discussion will be done orally, or through drawings. Writing will be optional for those who are able.

BUMBLE BEES

3rd - 4th Grade

The 3rd and 4th grade students will enjoy many of the same subjects as the Honey Bee class, but using a different selection of Living Books. This class will read mythology and fantasy for their Literary reading. They will have 1 reading to complete at home before attending the group lessons each week, but otherwise their work will be completed during the lesson time.

MASON BEES

5th - 6th Grade

The 5th and 6th grade students will continue their education with more complex narrations and class discussions. Their subjects will be the same as the lower grades, but with age-appropriate Living Books. They will have 2 or 3 readings to complete at home before attending the group lessons each week, but otherwise their work will be completed during the lesson time.

7th - 8th Grade

Coming the 2024-2025 school year.
